Fast rear tire wear on Gs400 - Pics + Alignment inside
I have 3rd gen gs18" wheels installed with 245 45 18 tires.
In the past 5 months the inner rear tires wear unevenly with the front tires. Bought 4 brand new tires in November and I had to change the rears twice while fronts still seem good. The 1st new rear tires lasted about 3-4 months before needed to change and the 2nd new rear set about the same. In June I bought some used tires which only lasted a month, and now need to be replaced again. The only mod I have on the suspension is TRD blue sway bars. All advise is welcome as I have to make a 5 hour trip in a few weeks, and want to avoid spending unnecessary $$ on tires. Also hopefully this may go on to help others in the future.
Fyi alignment was done before used tires installed 1 month ago. Also have been using 245 45 18 setup for over 1 year with no issue. Will get new alignment once used tires installed tomorrow.

Thicker swaybars have been known to cause a little inner tire wear however your issue maybe something mechanical. Check for play in the rear upper arms and rear knuckle bushings. Check your shocks too if you're still on the originals

Mine have done that as well with 18" wheels 255/40/18. It seems less pronounced with stock 17". But it has occurred with a set of Dunlop SP9000. Not so much with my General UHP 17". My winter tires (16") don't seem to show hardly any abnormal wear.
I have TRD blues also and I am lowered about 1.5". I do believe my rear toe arms are getting worn. There is a problem subframe flange for the toe arm adjuxting cam. I think this is common for cars that are exposed to winter salt and rust.

Wow champ i've seen tire wear that severe before.. I just had to replace my front tires for the same reason. "inner tire wear"... Got the new wheels and new alignment and everything seems to be straight.. Also replaced UCA and also replacing tie rods and caster arms pretty soon...

Check this web page and see what Mike @ FIGS wrote about his toe links. Pretty sure these will fix your problem, and are not expensive at all really lol

Have your rear toe checked again, toe is what causes inner tire wear. My rear toe is out, I'm lowered on Stance coilovers. I had to buy Battle Version adjustable rear toe links, getting them in next week so the shop can adjust the toe properly. The current toe is too far out for the stock adjustment. It won't go back within factory limits without help from the adjustable links.
edit: when you have your car on a lift, check for this. My rear toe adjustment is limited because of this. Sounds like a problem other GS's may have as well.

I have a problem that might be related to this. While i don't have excessive tire wear, I am noticing an incredible amount of lack of grip. In the rain my VSC light comes off at the slightest acceleration increase, even on a straight line though. But more worrying, in complete dry conditions the VSC light comes off while taking a turn at a fairly slow pace.
If i do take a spirited turn without breaking, as in letting off the gas and just taking the turn on the car's momentum, the tires screech like crazy. It really does not feel normal and makes me nervous about completely trusting the car in an high speed emergency situation.
Suspension components are all new, btw. I'm on a '99 with 131K miles. Any thoughts?

IMO I like Battle Version more than FIGS just for the fact that everything they put out is made for street/track use. They don't have an 'Economy' link. It's all track ready. Battle Versions are made out of aircraft grade billet aluminum and contain self-lubricating teflon injected bearings.

Bought some used tires and got another alignment today this time by the owner of the shop. I'll give it a couple of weeks if I start seeing some uneven thread I'll have to look into the Figs toe link.
