Default 98gs300 needs your help!!!!!

so i need your help one day i turned on my car i got a check engine light. i went to a local shop i normally take it to(payless auto) and he scanned my ecu and he said that it could just be your gas cap so i went to buy a new one and went to a buddys house to clear the code. when i was on the way to my parents house on the freeway. The car started jerking and when i push on the gas it wouldnt move. then i pushed it again it responded. 10 seconds later it did it again and this time it got worse i was loosing mph and it wasnt responded and it just kept jerking. i pulled over and got the car towed to the shop on a sunday and came back to see what was the problem on monday..the mechanic wasnt sure what was happening. He said it could either be your maf sensor..Throttle body or fuel pump....i really dont want to spend money on guesses!!!..i turned on the car when it was at the shop and it cranked up fine.. but after a couple secs it started idling rough and would just shut off in a matter of seconds...."the day i cleared the code at my buddies house it gave me p0446 evap malfunction but i've checked many sites and people have ran with this CEL light with no probs and some people got it from a broken gas cap" PLEASE HELP...

Do the cheap stuff first; check for vacuum leaks.

Clean your MAF sensor before u start replacing parts. Evap codes are usually hoses like ThomasGS4 said but obviously could also be any link in that chain. I just smoged my car and found out i needed a new gas cap because it wasn't holding enough pressure and didnt have any codes or driving issues so u can rule that out.... Unless yours is really bad then replace that anyways.

After that im taking a stab in the dark with: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...on-sensor.html

Only because i had similar issues and it was this for me.

Make sure your battery is good, these cars do weird things with bad batteries...

+1 on the battery and clean cables. I had a yellow top optima and it was shorting out internally. My car turned off a few times at random before someone suggested I get it replaced. Replaced it a few years ago and no issues like that since.

Thanks guys ill check it out..u think it would b the battery tho? Because once we got to the shop the battery was kinda dead so the mechanic jump started it and it turnex on but would start to idle rough and would turn off...from my knowledge and correct me if im wrong...but isnt once u turn on the car it stats to run off ur alternator? And im not sure it is the maf sensor cause its pretty clean and i purchased another one from the junkyard and same problem ....

I kinda think its that too bro..cause sometimes when i pushed on the gas it would b a slow response and sometimes before this all happened my car would jerk or shake slighty on stand still when im at the light

also try doing ecu reset. in fuse box under hood remove ecu fuse and leave it for 10 minutes then put it back in.
