Default LOUD CLICKING NOISE when hopping in car...?

So I have an 01 430 with 128 miles and this noise is driving me crazy. I replaced basically everything in the front suspension aside from strut mounts and this noise is driving me crazy. Everytime the car is cold or hasn't been drivin a few hours the first time I hop in the driver seat or passenger seat you hear a loud click noise from the front above wheel suspension area. Anyone have ANY idea what this could be and had this happened to them? I'm on these forums alot and never heard of this problem. Hopefully someone can help here. Thanks CL !

Roll down one of the front windows stand outside the car with the door closed. Grab the top of the door frame and rock the car to see if you can hear it. Track it down from there.

I hear the same noise. Sounds like the brake shield hitting/rattling.

Yea I'm going to try the rocking thing I'm sure that will work but what good will that do besides recreate the noise? Because I think if I tried that when the car is cold it will work but then go away rather quick

I just swapped my LBJ out for Moog's and it started making the noise. Looks like i'll add some more grease.

If you don't recreate the noise and track it down your just going to be replacing things blindly. You might get lucky but get someone to check it out with you and it will be easier to pin point.

What's funny is my instinct told me it was the LBJ just because of that click pop sound it makes and where the noise comes from sounds like that area. But that was literally the FIRST thing I changed on the car 2 years ago because they were done to the point where the steering would not return to center and it made the popping noise when driving. Is it possible that the new OEM ones purchased two years and about 30k miles ago are bad again? I can tell you there was a zillion things changed in the front after the LBJ. The struts, all the arms , motors mounts and more. Could changing all those parts put unnecessary stress on those new LBJs and made them wear out? Because my cars steering pretty much returns to center so that's why I didnt think that was the issue.

It's not your ball joints. I had that problem before and after I replaced them. It's something else. Have no idea what but it's something that seems to settle after that first initial pop sound and you won't hear anymore for the remainder of the day. Until of course it sits for a while. Not sure what part is making that sound, but its something that tends to make noise only once

Did u check your brake clips? Maybe after your driving and heat dissipates to them and they warm up the noise isn't present...I changed to Moog LBJ now everytime I turn left real slow I hear a popping clunk noise and it sounds like ****....also make sure your brake dust shield isn't bent a few mm out of spec..

It could be the brake clips come to think about it I don't know what the guy did when he installed the pads but now when driving over rough surfaces without pressing the brakes makes a rattling noise on the pads. But once you press the brake it goes away. I'm so confused when it comes to this brake ****. Is it the holster for the pad that the guy pops out and sticks the new pads into? Or is it those pins that slide into the calipers. Or is it the "shim" kit. Lol

I don't know about the OP, but the sound I hear seems to be coming from below and not up top

I feel you man. I hear this same thing and exactly as described. Only hear it if the car sits for a while but if I'm in and out of it all day (regardless if it's driven), nothing.
