Default type of A/C refrigerant for 98 Lexus GS300?

Hi All,

I bought a can of A/C pro (http://www.ruralking.com/id-quest-a-...e-acp-100.html) for my other car and after using it I still have some refrigerant left over in the can. I was just wondering if this is usable in my 98 Lexus GS300 and if so then where is the nozzle/low point to attach the tube to in the engine? It would probably be good to finish the can and fill up my GS300 if it is low on refrigerant.

Thanks!

All cars after '94 use R134a refrigerant. The low pressure attachment is between the power steering pump and the ECU box. Unless your A/C doesn't work well, I wouldn't mess with it.

You can replace it with whatever else works, but the factory sticker under the hood still says R134a. For example, I've got an old Toyota pickup with an R12 system that I run R152a (aka air duster) in as refrigerant.

R414B is blend of R-22, R-124 and R-142b with hydrocarbon R-600a and u can use it as a substitute for r-12... R134a is a safer refrigerant because it has no cfc's in it and is safer for the environment...

I'm type universal in Refrigerant...

R414B runs much cooler....and IMHO is a better freon than R134A (i dont give a crap about the environment especially since all freons are bad for the environment)

sakataj do you have to purge out the old stuff before putting in 414 or can you just add it? I was getting my condenser changed and I asked them to put in 414...not sure if they did..want to experience this super cold ac...

well its against the law to "purge" any freon but to answer the ? no you can add it on top of R134a or R12

dunno....we dont use automotive certifications. i manage a local HVAC supply house and we wont accept the automotive certifications (as they wont accept ours) so i guess it depends on where you buy it from.
