Default fluke accident, now i'm at a loss

so I had my brother n law replace both door lock motor on the drivers side a year ago and just recently my passenger side went out, so he put them both in easily and then shut the passenger front door and apparently the ball that connects to the door lock got stuck and now the door will not open from the outside or inside and he needs the door to be opened in order to get inside the door to take off the door panels because the screws can't be accessed from the inside. ANy suggestions? He tried opening it with a coat hanger outside with the window down, but it wouldn't work? Any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks,
Scott

You should be able to get to it behind the little panel you remove to access the screw behind the door handle. With a flashlight and maybe a mechanics claw (be creative on what to use):

You should be able to grab and pull. I cant remember if you have to push or pull to get it unlocked, hopefully push and you'll be done. However, I'm pretty sure it doesn't need to be attached to be able to use your key or unlock button.

wait wait wait... I think I read that wrong, if not, do the above

If the ball IS on the door lock and you cant lock or unlock (does it feel a bit spongy?) Open window or have someone outside hold the outside door handle up while you unlock it by hand on the inside. If it doesnt do it easily, jiggle the button a little and it will get free. I'm pretty sure that will do it. Most likely the plastic piece behind the ball (that holds it in place on the panel) broke and thats where its getting stuck at.
