GS430 purchase: Gotchas?
So, I have been eyeing the Lexus' for awhile and since my WRX just got totaled (Not my fault ) it seems like a good opportunity to try one out. I was looking at the IS300 but, I am wondering if I want something a little more comfortable for commuting while keeping some sporty power.
First, some general questions. Does the 430 require premium fuel? I know it's not a great snow car due to V8+Rear wheel drive but, with snow tires, is it ok? I live in a snowy area (my WRX was perfect for it) with a steep driveway. I have a set from my WRX but, they are 205/55/16 and I am not sure if I can get wheels that would work for the car at that size. Is it a ridiculous car to get for that scenario?
There is a local 430 for sale that I am going to go check out in a day or two and I am wondering what I should look for both in terms of visually and maintenance history? What are the main weaknesses of this car?
Thanks

With all-seasons, it's a pretty wild ride in the snow. I wouldn't say dangerous if you go very very slow, but it's darn close. I'm sure winters make it better, but I don't have any experience...

Search on what to look for when buying..its been covered, your not the first 2nd gen potential buyer.
If you have to Ask about a rear wheel drive car in the snow, i say stay with AWD or get driving lessons. Winter tires help on ANY car..but will not help stupidity

Yes. Premium fuel only. It would be wise to fully research this car before buying it so you know what you are getting yourself into. I just googled "Lexus GS430" and got the answers to your questions and plenty more.
Good luck with your purchase....
