Default Car is burning quart of oil a month all of a sudden?

Have a 2004 gs330. Never had an issue. Not burn
Ing oil. Last couple months we've been doing a lot of
Driving. Freeway too. Putting a ton of clicks. The engine went on then popped up. Took it to a mechanic and he said not to worry looks like something's, can't remember what, is clogged up. Poured some stuff in the car. Engine light went off but is back on again. Then once we started doing all the driving then noticed had to pour in a quart every month. I'm worried but I don't think I should be because the car was well taken care off.

Take your car to a different mechanic and get it fixed properly.Pouring in some stuff will never fix the problem.

there is definitely something wrong, but a quart a month isnt 'too bad.'
my gd datsun drinks about a qt or more a week (but thats because the rear main seal is leaking.)

all motors consume oil, no matter how new. as the piston rings are oiled, some of the oil gets burned up in the combustion chamber. the more mileage on the motor, the more oil it will consume.

UNLESS you can actually see where the oil is leaking from, then thatll be another problem.

can you tell where the oil is leaking from?

and as for 'something being blocked' i cant think of anything in the engine being blocked that would cause a qt of oil a month to be consumed.

how many miles do you have anyways?

a qt of oil a month is what, 7-8$, right? so in the long term youre lookin at less than $120 a year.
where as breaking down and inspecting and/or rebuilding the motor would be many times more
than $120. so assuming its oil consumption youll be ok. but again if its a leak from elsewhere, it
should be taken care of

Default Hmm

No oil leaks whatsoever. This engine is squeaky clean. Its got higher miles. Its at 150,00 Which i believe is like 230,000? Its used also as a car to drive kids around for a group home. Still about a quart a month scares me. I do need to take it to a proper mechanic your right. Just it didnt burn the oil till this summer.
Anyone else on here have a higher mile car that also has to put in a quart of oil a month.

First, I believe you drive a GS300 not a 330.

Second, run codes and go from there...

A competent mechanic would have pulled the code and told you what was going on, instead of pouring "unicorn jizz" into your motor to make it all better.

I'll second repugnante's comment: Pull the codes!!

so everyone was able to comprehend what he said?

I wouldn't call a quart a month normal. seems a bit excessive. i lose a little under a quart every oil change interval 3K.

Exclamation Not a 300

Its a GS 430.

Engine runs perfect. No delays. Lots of power. No misses. Nothing to even SHOW an engine failing.
I kinda want to know what this could be. Its not okay. I just put in a quart today. I think i put in a quart not even 2 weeks ago!

Check around the valve gasket. Mine was leaking from there.

Regardless if if you get a check engine light or not, the oil is going somewhere. If its not being burned, then it has to be leaking from somewhere.

I have an 2004 GS myself, it burns about the same amount. Always used full synthetic, it might be the oil that burns it.

The Toyota V8's have been known to burn some oil. Yours is a bit excessive though. Run codes next time that light pops up. I second others that it could be the valve cover gaskets. Those leaks won't show on the floor in its early stages and it really hard to diagnose that its coming from there because of the engine size. Best bet is to look from below while its on a lift
