Help needed please!
Just installed a new Accelerator pedal position sensor. Started the car. Car will start up. Rev to about 2000 rpm then shuts off within 2-3 seconds. Any ideas? I'm stumped and am a newbie. Any help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a misdiagnosis...
How about giving us more information.
Why did you replace the APP sensor?
Codes? Maintanance history? What model & year GS?
No one here, that I know of, can mind-read.
The more info you post, the more help you will get.

I could be off... And what i was told could have been wrong but i had mine replaced and was told that if i did it myself i would need some "special" tool to calibrate it after installation. Again i dont know how true that is... But its one of the things i recall.
Not that this helps u but maybe someone here with more experience can verify/correct this to be true/false?

APP sensor requires no calibration.
Here is a helpful link on how to test your APP sensor.
The ThrottlePositionSensor, on the other end of the throttle body is the part that requires calibration.

Sorry guys. Its a 1998 GS300. Bought it from a guy that said that thats all was needed to get it running again (APP sensor). He had no time to fix it. Im waiting on my friend to come over with a obd scan tool to see what codes its throwing. Im kind of mechanically inclined. Car has been sitting for over 2-3 months.

Replaced the TPS sensor and now the car starts up normal ( i think) but as soon as it sounds like it starts to idle it shuts off. Any suggestions?

Make sure the intake tube is properly installed and is intact with no cracks or air leaks; between the throttle body and the MAF sensor.
It sounds like you are just replacing parts in the hope that it fixes the problem.
A proper diagnosis is required...over the internet all we can do is guess.

TPS sensor was removed. My new idle air control motor came in and I replaced the old one. Still doing the same thing. Its starting to frustrate me now. Im about ready to just give up on it. I checked for leaks or anything on the air intake. Nothing. I even replaced the air filter with a new one. Any more suggestions before I set fire to it?

When you put the TPS sensor back in it doesn't just go straight in. You need to twist it I think to the right so that ears catch on the inside of the throttle body. When it's in place with the screw loose you should feel the spring tension when you adjust it. Also did you know that the TPS needs adjustment if you didn't mark it when it was taken off?
