Default Cant figure out what the CHIME is for!!

ok, I had lurked on this site a while back when I had a SC4... but I ended up selling that and haven't been in the Lexus game in a while.

Recently just purchased an 03 GS300... 120k and in perfect condition.

I have searched and have checked all of the normal things, yes the sunroof is closed... all the doors are closed but i still get a chime. and here is the weird part... the chime only happens when i accelerate from a stop or the car changes elevation, like when entering into my driveway... nose up or down... still a chime.

I have checked all of the fluids... everything is topped off... any help is greatly appreciated.

You will have to describe this "chime" a little better. Is it like a constant ding or just one?

Just 1 chime...1 chime when i accelerate, 1 chime whenever the car changes elevation

its the same sound if you leave the key in the ignition and open the door.

but whenever i hear it... its only 1 chime

The (Chime) speaker connection has a short. Or a wire is touching. I bet if you wiggle it around, tighten the connection... it will go away

Have you driven the car at night? Maybe if one of the indicators lights up for a second it can tell you where the problem lies?
Try to narrow down what can be affected with elevation?

- headlight leveling sensors
- fuel sensor
- ?

Its been a while. But Im almost sure the chime that you get when you open the door is different than the one you get when you loose traction.

maybe the traction control is becoming glitchy.

Is there any dents in the doors where the pin switches contact, maybe it thinks a door is open. I've had this before where somebody shut the seatbelt buckle in the door and it made a dent so the door doesn't push the pin switch all the way in, when you went around a corner the warning buzzer would go off

I know the car will chime once if the e-brake is depressed while the car is in motion. Sounds like it might be related.

Man, here I am thinking I was the only one with that issue. Kinda like admitting to ED - lol.

The previous owner snapped the emergency brake cable somehow and the emergency brake pedal is stuck fully depressed. No harm, well until I actually need to use the emergency brake. But it does chime periodically.

Hope it helps.
