Well you want to weld the walls back together then grind welds smooth to prevent any jagged edges from cutting the tires. Then you can either prime and paint to prevent the rusting of use like a undercoating (like the same stuff they pray under the car to prep for bad winters)

i didnt actually weld my rears fenders when I grinded them down. I did use a sandable epoxy and filled it thoroughly, then sanded smooth. I then used the same undercoating material to prevent any further rust scares from happening.

How long ago did you do that ? And how is it holding ?
Is it necessary to weld anytime the rear quarters get shaved? I was planning on shaving mine soon, but i definitely dont feel like welding and doing bodywork as well.
You don't necessarily have to weld it. What I did was use some jb weld and just put a thin layer on it and smooth it out with 2000 grit and its all good. Welding it is the correct way.
I would spray it with a rust inhibitor first then paint it (primer first or get the one with primer+paint). Good work though,.. I had to stretch mine after shaving it.

Yeah i'd think so, better to be safe than sorry. but I might try the JB weld first and see how that goes ? Im not a big fan of going to body work either.

so woul the krylon ones work for this ? Ive seen krylon who makes paint+primer in one.
