Advantages of a gs300?
I need some advantages to keep my 98' gs300. I'm a new driver, so of course my insurance is going to be high for a lexus, and the gas isnt going to help either. But isn't there also good things of keeping the gs300? I need to convince my dad with the good sides of the car, and not bad sides that are going in his head.

It's a Lexus!!! 'Nuff said!!! lol, but seriously, the reliability of a Lexus is unmatched as long as you do the proper upkeep. Not to mention the smooth ride, quiet operation, quality and luxury. Send your dad my way and I'll convince him. I've got 7 currently in my stable.

But the thing is, we already spent money on restoring it. It was lowered, so we changed those back to stock springs and we also replaced the brakes and bought new rims/tires. So all of that for nothing if we end up selling it. You see what im saying?

Gas price is Gas price.....Get a 4cyl eco box or move to Venezuela.

Obviously you only want to hear what you want to hear. Yeah its cool to have a lexus when your young, get all dem girls. But if your commuting long distances for work/school its better to get a beater car.

I agree with ****-adkt, gas is gas, and insurance is mainly high due to your age. From google maps, dulath to loganville is about 20miles, which isnt too much considering a lot of people daily their GS, and drive just as much/more. I drive almost as much daily, and it's not too bad, especially for the comfort/quality of the GS.
If you do not value your lexus enough to pay for the gas/insurance, and your parents are not willing to help/pay for it either, I think your best bet is to just go for a 4cyl economical car for your first car, and maybe go back to a lex or other car in the future when you can afford it.
**If you really want to keep this car, take into consideration why your dad wants to get rid of it, and reason with him why its the better choice to stick with it. If the only reason is economical reasons, prove to him its worth it and help pay for your gas/insurance. If it's any other minor reasons, use the search bar or google to find positive aspects of the car and work something out with him. Although since your dad did the body work, i'm sure hes knowledgeable and reasonable with what to do.

Convince them you need to keep it. 1 Safety features. 2 The engine was on Wards 10-best engines list for a few years. 3 The powertrains are bulletproof if you've done the maintenance. 4 You won't have the nickle and dime problems with that car like you'd have in a "4-cyl eco minded car" like window motors, sensors on the engine, and power steering pumps (once again assuming maintenance has been kept up.) 5 Regular maintenance is as cheap as it would be for any Kia or Hyundai. Especially if you get into cars and start doing some of the stuff yourself!!. I would have killed to have a GS as my first car!!!!!!!
