Default What could be causing his check engine light?

I know this can be difficult to pin point without an analyzer but this community has always been pretty dang good at troubleshooting without ALL the facts - so here goes. I had the starter on my 99 GS400 replaced a week or so ago - no problems with the car starting now at all but my check engine light has now come on and is staying on? At 1st, the check engine light would come on and then go away for a couple of days - now its on all the time. The car seems to run fine...

Any idea what would have caused this and is the engine / car in trouble?

Whoever replaced it probably messed something up reinstalling the manifold. Like Daniel said, we'll need the CEL code.

Even if ALL the details were available without hooking up a diagnostic scan tool and reading the trouble code there is no way to know if the Check Engine Light is related to the recent repair or not. Sorry.

And to be honest, even with the DTC (Diagnostic Troubleshoot Code) we may not be able to give you a 100% certain answer. Some codes are kinda generic and could be caused by multiple components going bad. But we can try to give you an idea of where to start.

Hey Guys I have a 02 gs300 and am getting 3 dtc codes p0440 p0441 p0446. I googled the codes and saw that alot of the causes are hoses disconnected or cracked. I replaced a cracked hose at the top of the engine under the plastic engine cover. I also noticed another hose that is behind the air filter box that was cracked replaced that. What other hoses should I be looking for? Thanks.
