Lexus gs300 leather seat restoration and repair need suggestions
I Have a 03 Lexus gs3000 the car is in very good condition low miles engines runs good and it is very clean.I brought the car from Miami the owner really didnt condition the seat good. The seats where hard and cracked on the driver side bolster lower and upper. I was wondering if Leatherique would be a good choice to use to repair the seats or should I just replace them.Im located in the Charlotte NC area if anyone knows a good shop thats not too expensive. Here are the pics of the drivers side bolster the passenger side is almost perfect
.
Thanks in advance

Just bite the bullet and get the two front seats recovered. None of the magic dyes will hold up to daily use. Unless the seats have tears or rips in them, and you want a cheap quick fix i would go with that.
My dr. seat has seen the miles with 14 yrs of use. My goal is to find a low mileage dr. seat and swap it in.

I currently dont have a garage im in a apt looking for a house currently. I have access to a garage if I need to use one for a.couple days.I read about the clazzio seat covers and they look good but im not sure I like that they are not full leather.I see it takes a couple months to get them as well. If I do a solid color will it take that long? For the leatherique process would I have wait til the warmer months or just use a garage to do it? For anyone who used Leatherique are you happy with the results and did it hold up over time. Thanks

You might also want to post a WTB in the classifieds. Some folks who recover with a leatherseats.com or other cover may have their OEM leather (in better condition than yours) just sitting in a box somewhere.

The rejuvenator oil from leatherique works better in the summer but you can use the die anytime just need a garage because freezing temp won't work. My seats were like yours in one part and they have a paste to fill the cracks then you die over it. It takes some technique but it will look good for a while. From then on you will need to do maintenance every so often so it's not like new leather seats.

how long are you talking when you say last for a while? when you say matainance you mean redo the fill and dye process or are you talking keeping it up by conditioning your work?

About a year. Yes, redo die and possibly fill but not to such a great extent. Your seats are about to crack through and once that happens you need to either replace that piece or redo the entire thing. If you clean it with 50% woo lite and 50 % hot water with a brush, dry it, the condition the snot out of it (will get sticky for a while) with lexol it will look a lot better do this while you are waiting for your die. The only place you will need the paste is where the grooves are deep (most of yours are not just the left butt cheek area) when you put the die on you will be amazed how all the lines blend in. You put on very thin coats, but if you have an airbrush gun then it comes out even better. You can also find people who do this for a living and will charge about 150 for both seats.(they can also restore your steering wheel) ask a luxury car used car dealer who they use because they all use these guys to increase the value of their used cars. If your center arm rest is wasted their is a guy on eBay who sells the leather or vynil if you prefer cover for it. He will match your color. By the way, you should condition your leather twice a month to prevent this in the first place
