Avoid the ES because you can save quite a bit by buying a Camry. Their guts are identical. I have come across several 2J builders and many of them would argue that the 1UZ is stronger. I wouldn't know, but I do know the motor in the GS400 was originally designed for a GT-series racecar. But since it is only making 300hp in the GS's, it's sure to last a very long time. The same can be said about a N/A GS300 though!! I wouldn't make any distinction between the two except the GS3 is pretty significantly slower.

I was on the fence when I first started on this car.. All I needed was one attempted freeway merge with a GS300 in my first test drive ever, to know immediately that it was way underpowered. It felt like I was hauling a boat.

I went GS400 and never looked back

lol, you might be the first person in CL history to have said that.

It's generally widely accepted that the difference in gas mileage between a GS300 and a GS400/430 is maybe a couple mpg on average, and most GS300 owners are pretty ashamed of their gas mileage for having such a slow pig of a car ;-)

Nope, I have no plans to modify.

Asking about $15K, Well worth it for an almost new car, granted you have to account even though its an 12 year old car, the life of this car can go another 150K miles before you might need to replace major things. I rather pay alittle more for a near-new car then buy a hi-mileage thats cheaper that I have to restore/fix..

Also, give into account these cars retail around $53-54K Brand new, so getting one with this low mileage in the teens is a steal, atleast, i think so..

and Black/blk is a rare combo..

It's out of my budge.

If you like power, avoid the GS300 like I said originally.

Both cars are great, so get what suits your needs, and NEVER settle.
No I was only looking for a GS3 because of the gas savings. All of my cars in the past were V8's with power, so I was looking for a V6. After digging into this car, I learned that it was an I6. The only thing that I settled on was a regular Gold GS3. I was looking for a black SD model with Saddle or Black Cherry GS3 (I love this color). I could never find one. Of course after I purchased mine, I saw plenty and even a few on this site that I would've purchased if the car was sound.

LOL!!! I have a picture on this site of my car with the gas hand on half tank with 270 miles! I have yet to see anyone with a GS4 or 430 match it. I don't know about anyone else, but I get great mileage. Mileage is based on how well the person keep up their engine. Once or twice a month, I make sure to run a good PEA based injector cleaner in the tank to keep things clean.

i agree. i looked for one for about 2 months. there were a lot of gs300's i kept my eye on. Rarely did i ever see a GS400 or 430. Stylistically they (gs300) will do the deed. But if you wanna lay a patch of rubber in front of your friends house you need the V8. She moves hella good for being a big sedan and I got 198k on mine but luckily they had everything recently serviced. She has her old age quirks, but, so do i. Lovin my GS4
