Default Buying a GS400 or 430 with high miles...

I'm only looking for a GS400 or 430, mainly looking for black, white, green and may do blue. but they have been hard to find, so I MAY settle for a GS300. I'm finding a lot of 300's that are below my budget . I haven't drove a V6 in a while, my last car was a LS400, I loved the power it had. Well, I found a 400 with 160k(price $7,000) a couple of scratches and two small dents, a 400 with 189k(price $4500) perfect condition inside out and a 430 with 179k(price $5,900) it's silver but I willing to offer them less and get it painted the color I like. Oh and I found a silver 400 with 145k for $5,500 which I was considering because it's below my budget and leaves room for me to get it painted.

How do you guys feel about this? Should I look for something with less miles. I don't have any experience with GS models. The LS400400 I had was in the late 90's, it had 174k when I purchased it and it didn't give me much trouble in the 5 years that I had it. I sold it at 205k.

Also a dealer tried to sell me a 2002 ES300 with 140k for $7,000, it's a trade-in and is sold as is. Is this a good car?

my GS300 is fine

i picked it up because it was a sport design and rare along with black seats. the power is a little lacking compared to the v8 but its a cruiser / luxury car and faster than most things out there so i dont mind

To be honest the ES is made with Camry standards.

With high mileage GS you have to worry about suspension issues mainly.

What's the sports design about? I found one of those but it didn't have woodgrain.

Get a GS4 if you care about power.
GS3 is too slow imo

SD is black woodgrain with black/saddle interior, E-shift, piping on seats, black tinted headlights, and some other goodies.

IMO stick with a v8. unless you going with a swamp. the GS are built to last. still a god thing to collect the maintenance records.

If power is important to you, do NOT settle for the less powerful GS300. If you do you will surely be unhappy and everytime you see a GS400/430 drive by while your are driving you GS300, you will die a little inside.

Wow, funny because this hasn't happened to me yet. I love my GS3 and wouldn't have it any other way. Plenty of get up power on the interstate. I'm not doing idiot racing at red lights, so my GS3 is ok with me.

To the OP, please do not buy a ES ANYTHING! Just go ahead and buy a Camry. Guys driving ES model cars look a little to me if you know what I'm saying lol. I don't understand what your budget is because it will cost a good amout to repaint the car. If it's done right vs. going to Maaco.

higher milage GS4s are fine. the engine is rather bullet proof. If anything run a compression test to see the readings before buying.

get a GS400 with E shift.. its just better compared to a GS3. its nice to have that extra power when you want it.

I highly doubt you have any plans to modify a GS300 since you don't know what kind of engine it comes with.

Just get a 400/430 and be done with it.

Were you someone that specifically wanted a GS400/430 in the first place because you wanted the extra power but instead settled for a GS300? Or are you someone that didn't care for the extra power from the get go :-)

If you like power, avoid the GS300 like I said originally.

Both cars are great, so get what suits your needs, and NEVER settle.

I have 01 430 at 170k nothing wrong pulls hard. Have maintenance done though or get records.

I drove a stock 300 and it is slow as hell. Might as well get a 400/430 since they the same or even.better MPG

Gokussj3 loves the 300. Obviously its biased.

GS400/430's are hard to find. A friend of mine recently was searching for one, he couldn't find a clean low mileage in the color he wanted. Theres one right under your nose on here. 2000 Platinum Edition Black/Blk GS400 with 39K miles! Asking about $15K, Well worth it for an almost new car, granted you have to account even though its an 12 year old car, the life of this car can go another 150K miles before you might need to replace major things. I rather pay alittle more for a near-new car then buy a hi-mileage thats cheaper that I have to restore/fix..

Also, give into account these cars retail around $53-54K Brand new, so getting one with this low mileage in the teens is a steal, atleast, i think so..

and Black/blk is a rare combo..
