Foglight question??!!
I recently saw a thread consisting of CL members having issues with their foglight harness/sockets melting due to incorrect bulb wattage. I encountered this problem and wanted to know if there is any DIY fix or any other suggestions for a possible solution. Thanks in advance. Any help would be useful.

Simple wire splicing will resolve this. You can buy replacement wire sockets for the bulbs from your auto parts store. Cut the wires, remove the melted sockets and splice or solder in the new sockets. Chances are that you used high wattage bulbs that melted the bulbs. You can also buy the high wattage sockets made by Nokya. I say do it right and just upgrade to HIDS.

I wa using Nokia 9006 55W (or so it says) for over 2 years. Then all of a sudden my fogs stopped working. I opened them up and as I played with the wiring they started working again. However I could feel one getting extremely hot and smelled like it was starting to burn. Sure enough, the harness was starting to melt.
I had no problem with these bulbs for years but all of a sudden, they are running to hot? I don't get it.

A lot of people on the forums say there's nothing wrong with running 55w. The guys I bought the hids off of sell them on a daily basis and when I asked him what's the difference he said its slighter brighter. My 35w hids are bright as is. They indeed told me running 55w Especially in the low beams run a high risk of melting the housing and harness
