Talking Custom Axle Back Opinions??

So I'm playing with the idea of welding up a custom axle back exhaust for a 430, I'm looking for something that will sound decent but not drone at all.

I've been wanting a tanabe medallion catback, however after more researching, apparently the stock Y pipe flows decently and I want a fireball style/ JP muffler tip so I kinda want to get a custom set up made just axle back and fireball tip, and I might cut out the center cat later down the road if I need more sound.

I've seen other members use megan/ obx mufflers, they are cheap but I'm skeptical of their quality and I've had a universal axle back before and it droned like no tomorrow.

can anyone recommend me a decently priced muffler that DOESN'T DRONE? borla? magnaflow?
I'm looking to spend around $500 more or less on the axle back, If more I might as well buy a new tanabe cat back.

I'm looking to make something like this

Well if you go with the Tanabe catback and cut the tips off, Please sell or give me the tips if you don't mind.

5t341th hey I just watched your video, wow your car sounds like a V8 from the vid, sounds pretty deep that's why I thought it would have drone. And I sat in a first gen gs300 with custom magnaflow set up and it drones so that's why I'm skeptical, and I've had a universal muffler on my old car and it was horrible even after adding a vibrant ultra quiet resonator.

and I'm really not hoping to spend $900 for a tanabe and just cut off its tips to reweld fireball tips on lol, that's why I'm thinking of going this route.

I've got magnaflows on my 400 and theres very little to no drone, I actually ended up having the rear resonators removed to get a little more sound and its still pretty low key.

all this talk got me to my local custom exhaust shop deleting MY resonators on stock GS300, best $60 i ever spent lol.

My homie with a 400 told he had a 300 b4 where he did straight pipe all the way frm the headers, kept his resonators and cut off the cans and through on some tips. Said it sounded sick. He was pushn me to do this but figured i'd ask the fam first if anyone's ever done that lol.

Kyle Harty, what magnaflows did you get? The oval drums with 2.25" inlets?

That sounds right, it was over 3 years ago I had it done, they are oval cans and welded up to the stock piping. The model numbers are out in old posts if you search magnaflow. A lot of good discussion from the OG's.

I got rid of my mufflers and put borla tips. To eliminate the drone I put holtz resonators. Basically a dead end pipe at 90 degrees from the exhaust pipe. No drone and nice sound.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...resonator.html

Cost me 140 to do both sides plus the tips

i paid a shop 100 here in albuquerque so its a very cheap way to get a bit more v8 sound without it being too loud.
