Default Supra LSD Pumpkin Pros v. Cons

I want to switch to a supra lsd pumpkin but after reading into it I might not. I want to see all the pros and cons so I can decide. Can anyone help with my pros and con list.

Pros:
LSD
Fast acceleration

Cons:
Worse gas milage
mechanically limited to a lower top speed
will hurt my 0-60 and 1/4 mile times due to the fact that I will have to shift more often

Can anyone add to the list. Thanks.

You got it.. I've got a 2900 TC as well and I'm limited at 120mph.. Only bothers me sometimes..especially the gas mileage.. Otherwise they're a good upgrade in my opinion

Your only talking about the comparison of the effects from the change of gear ratios not the change from open to lsd.

Just swap in the LSD and keep your gears if it's gonna bother you that much.

1) it does promote faster acceleration, but a snapshot to exactly 60 you will be slightly slower than a Gs4 without it, all other mods being the same. I.e 0-50, the Gs4 with this lsd would be MUCH faster than the other. Highway roll, hands down the supra lsd is much faster. Many people combine a high stall tc and headers, like myself, to counteract losing time to 60 mph for that extra shift. So, now my car is MUCH MUCH faster than a regular Gs4 in any scenario. Plus, now with more power mods you have better off the line traction due to the lsd.

2) get it!

Why not buy a TRD LSD (clutch type) and put that in instead of messing with the Supra one if it the gearing bothers you too much? The only thing I didn't like about the Supra LSD is that it was a Torsen style. If one wheel lost complete traction, then the diff acts like an open one.

How much is a TRD LSD? Any specific places to get it from?

I've seen used ones go for a pretty wide range, between $800-$1600 give or take..

TT auto TRD LSD brand new is around $825- $875 then you need the 2 side bearings, 2 o rings and the rtv sealer to reseal the rear diff cover and then you are done.
Get the TRD!
