Lol, an lsd alone wont do crap for a stock or light/moderately modded GS4. You will NOT have riduculous traction issues to warrant the need for just an LSD. If you were boosted, then yes, different story and i'd keep the gears and just add the TRD LSD. The reason why many opt for the Supra TT LSD is because if you are stock, mild or moderately modded or plan to be it adds a little performance and peppiness to the car while addind LSD features. It is pointless to get an LSD alone especially if you are stock. My guess is that you aren't tracking the car also so, even more of the reason why you wouldn't notice just an LSD. Another reason why some buy some type of an LSD is if they bought a high stall torque converter where you can smoke the tires from a standstill just by hitting the gas. This is having traction issues and from here people opt for either the Supra TT LSD or keep their stock gears and get the TRD LSD. Oh, and for the record, the top speed is limited to 132mph. I never take my car up here really and dont feel I am missing out because I cant go up to the 148mph limited top speed when stock...that trade off is no big deal to me. The gas mileage did go down though by 1-2mpg due to the gears though; this is the only thing thats crappy. Good luck

Well I do want better traction as I light up my wheels from a stand still a lot. I don't track my car often tho but planning to.

Thats out of my price range. I think I'm going to just install a supra LSD into the GS. Can anyone tell me what I will need to do this including which year the Supra LSd has to be to work.

One last thing, about talking price. A used Supra LSD will run you anywhere from $700 -800. The install will be around $300 or so.
I haven't seen a used TRD LSD in a long time so one would be stuck buying new at around $850, however I heard the install is much more labor intensive than the Supra unit. Reason being is because they need to open the stock open diff and swap out with the TRD. The Supra unit is just a bolt up affair.

There are pumpkins on ebay for $400-500 sometimes, but the sellers will refuse to open them up to prove they are LSD, because they know they are not. So be careful.

Either route tge OP chooses to go will most likely result in spending $1000 - $1500 with install. I bought my Supra TT LSD from Team Lexus, brand new which included both new rear axles shipped for $1150; this was 5 years ago. It was a unit that Team Lexus had an extra of that they never installed on their race GS. It cost me about $450 for the install with the fluids. It is a great mod though. Also RMM sells this SAME exact torsen style diff on their website as well. It's just re-badged under their name.

Thats what I was looking at. Thanks for the heads up. And I plan on doing all the labor myself so it makes it a little more affordable.

A full pumpkin swap is easy and you can do that at home with basic tools, a floor jack, and jack stands. But swapping in a lsd unit or swapping gearsets you should have a good understanding of setting backlash and have a runout indicator before you tackle that task.

If you're lighting 'em up that easily, you need more tire... and a better tire.

295 or 305 will do the trick. Don't even think about spending money on a diff if you're running no-name/el cheapo tires. Tires make or break a car.

I had hancook v12 (235/45/17) but then went to Bridgestone potenzaz (275/35/18). I still was lighting them up but not as much. Are those tires good? I don't think theyre cheapo tires
