The key to the trunk fits and turns but the trunk doesn't open. The latch that bolts onto the trunk lid came unbolted and I bolted it back on and it opened by key for a few times but now doesn't. I must have not connected the rod correctly. How can I get the trunk open? If the only resort is to go to the dealer what is the estimated cost? It's a 2001 GS300. The electric wire connected to the trunk latch is disconnected.

Check the lock under you dash, the lock is right next to the trunk opener. It might accidentally pushed, and locked the trunk.

If the electronic lock doesn't open. You will probably have to go through the back seat. If the inside release level, the glow in the dark one, doesn't work then you will have reach behind the trunk liner and release the lock.

Release the lock from behind the dash. There will be a metal circle around the lock inside the dash, remove that and push the small button. It will unlock the trunk and you can get your stuff....
