This morning I started my car, dead battery, replaced it started fine but when I went to drive it no power bogging, as if there is no air flow going into the air intake until it kicks in. Removed the intake a little bit of oil in there (don’t know if this is normal probly not) throttle body dirty but nothing too detrimental. Checked the motor oil barely any( I know rookie mistake what an idiot) for ****s and giggles I checked my plugs found were all my oil went, don’t know if the oil was just resting in the spark plug spot or it was in the actual spark of spark plug whole thing.

So my question is:

Has this happened to any body?

Would the oil in the spark plug place do that to the motor? How would some know if the oil is just resting above the spark plugs or in the chamber?

Is a little bit of oil in the intake normal?

Can a dirty throttle body cause the bogging?

Should I replace the head gasket?

And what is the easiest way to remove an O2 sensor?

Were should I start I’m lost and inexperienced , don’t want to deal with a mechanic.

crap, I recently popped out a couple spark plugs from the left side of the GS300, and oil was full in there....car runs like new though, so why would the valve cover gaskets and such need to be replaced?

Yup this happened to me two weeks ago... Had a lil leak... Needed new valve gasket... Oil got into the spark plugs... Replaced all of them and gasket... Now its cherry

Does anyone know the part number for the bolt with the attached washer that holds the valve covers down after replacing the gaskets? 02 gs300? I am confused by the Sewell's diagram as it shows to stock numbers.

Hello all, I was asked to change the spark plugs on my friends 2001 GS300. While changing the plugs I noticed oil on the plugs (not the top, on the threads). I have read people talking about changing the valve cover gaskets and the spark plug tube seals. How would valve cover gaskets allow oil into the spark plugs? I have also read people talking about replacing rings and or the head gasket. Wouldn't there be other symptoms (smoke, overheating) if it were one of those two problems? This vehicle is only having a sporadic misfire. This is the first Lexus I have worked on, so any helpful information would be appreciated.

On some engines, valve cover gasket seals the spark plug tube from the cam area, which contains oil. On the 2JZ this is not the case, since it has two valve covers, one for each cam. Leaky valve covers could still lead to oil finding its way into the spark plug tubes. The boots would probably keep it off the top, but it could seep down into the threads.

If oil is leaking up through the piston rings, or out of an oil gallery (I don't know how those are laid out on the 2JZ), then yes, you would be burning oil, probably visibly if it's more than a minor leak.

changing the vc on the 2jz is a piece of cake compared to the 1uzf
