Default New GS3 Owner Trans problems

1st I'd like to say the 99 GS I just bought I'd say is far superior to all my previous cars owned. I have used search and not sure where to start. My trans is slipping and not changing out in top gear! 22-23k rpm @ 60mph. Car also feels like its in lower gear when cruising. I say it again I LOVE THIS CAR and my only problem is this trans thing and Gas mileage dealing with it! (300) to a tank without smashing the gas. Help your guy keep the car he's been waiting on! Have drained and refill trans , Driven checked and topped off same thing.

Default Check your battery and grounding cable first

There are quite a few tranny problems related to bad battery/ground connection issues. Read this thread.

As for MPG, clean the throttle body, MAF, replace the spark plug, use Chevron fuel injector cleaner, tires pressure should be check per your reference, but it will help. My trip calculator/computor show a huge differences between 35 psi and 40 psi. In short, give it a tune up.
When I bought the it's barely got 245 mpg for a full tank, now is like 330-350 mpg depend on traffic and either city/freeway driving.

OK GS714 I planned on doing the maf and TB cleaning. Have look @ the Thread but my trans still slipps @ low speed when you punch it rpm rises then the delay. Road with my Dad in his LS 430 and I mointored his rpm @ 60 and it hovered bout 19-2k. He had jus complained to me bout his feeling like it was slipping and I was gonna pull his battery cable for reset. So happens dead cell and a battey replacement and he saw the change big time! I've been reading a lot of forum but made CL my new home! I can't say this enuf but my Lex was a Game changer! I been reading bout shift soilenods and vss. Any thoughts on that? Going to Bask in my full leather interior @ 65dgrees for now o the way to the parts store for TB and maf cleaner!(NO Brake Cleen) I know! Where my GS Fam! I'm ready for a road trip bout don't wanna blow my load in gas or put heavy strain on my tranny!

Flocko my car doesn't seem to be changing out at 60mph it seek like its wanting to go overdrive but doesn't! From a dead stop or rolling punch it and it revs then takes offf! Don't think it should be that much of a delay and I don't want to damage my Newest toy! Does any one know Mph for each gear on a 99 so I can gauge my problem? Again I am Happy to finally get 1 of my Dream Cars and want to get it in top form before my vacation travel. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, yea that def does not sound normal, did u check your throttle cable
To see how tight it is? Maybe thats why its delaying on the throttle, but yea def clean the throttle body, maf, and maybe get some new spark plugs, is the oil clean? Tranny fluid full and clean?

@Flocko throttle cable was tighten by me on 2nd day of owning, oil was changed also just change trans fluid driven and topped off! I cleaned the maf yesterday and TB notice @ wot throttle plate doesn't open all the way! Is this because the TB is part drive by wire?

Yep, check the fluid, when the level is too low the tranny acts up.

Starting to sound like your tranny man, i would get a second opinion at your local garage.. One last thing, how old is your battery and are the terminals clean? That could be your problem..

im having kind of a similar problem, if i accelerate slowly the gears change smoothly. if im really stepping on it the gear change is really hard, and kinda winds up before the change so i know its slipping.

im wondering if i change the trans fluid will it get better or get worse. my car has 210k miles
