1999 GS300??'s
I have 2 questions;
1. I have read I think everything on the PO446 code and wondered if replacing the solenoid valve behind the throttle body worked for anyone? I don't want to throw anymore parts at her. I took it off and tried to blow threw the two ports but with no results. I banged it against the ground and saw a very little dust come out. replaced it back on and drove about 400 miles mostly interstate before the CEL came back on. If I am in town it will last for about 6 to 8 restarts before coming on. I have the code po446 stating valve malfuction?
2. Is there a way to close windows and sunroof remotely on the GS300?
All the best, MADLEX

ahh..ok..
well yes, replacing that VSV will correct the problem if that's what it is. Usually that's not the one tha goes bad though, its the one located next to the charcoal canister assembly. That VSV is not protected from the elements and fails after @ 80K..that's been my experience.
does the code come and go? or is it steady during the week?

Yes once it comes on it stays on. Are there two VSV's on the 99 gs300? The only one I saw was on the top/back side of the throttle body? I took it off and cleaned it good but after a few 100 miles it came back on again. It shows code PO446 --2 problems 1. Valve switch malfunction 2. Valve switch malfunction pending.
See link below for the part I am referencing.

Yes there are two, if you read up on the forum a bit more you'll find the diy's for how to replace it.
****-adkt already pointed you in the right direction previously. The other VSV for the evap is by the charcoal canister at the rear of the car. It is exposed to the elements and is more common to fail before the one in the engine bay.
