Default How to save some fuel in city driving

I have the nav in my gs400 and you can monitor fuel consumption. When the computer cuts off the fuel completely it shows 100mpg on the instant reading, you can also feel it. If you drive in the manual mode between 30 and 45 mph and you realize there is a red light or stop sign ahead just pull the shift lever back into 3rd or you can use the shift button on your steering wheel if you prefer. In less than a second the fuel will shut off and you will be coastin using no fuel. As soon is you feel the fuel kick in (you will feel a little less engine braking) shift back into M mode. Once you get a feel for it you can estimate the distance and when best to do it. Depending on how much stop and go you do this can increase your mileage from 1 to 2 mpg in city driving.

Props to the OP for the tip but if I was gonna join the hyper-miling crowd I'd buy a different car. To each their own but I enjoy driving my car and I'll pay an extra dollar or two when I fill up to do just that.
