Default 98 gs3 rear axle removal

Hi Folks,
I think I have a rear axle that looks bent or out of round when it is turning. I am trying to run down vibrations (on three different sets of tires, wheels are straight).
When I tried to remove the axle I took off the shaft nut, dropped the axle from the differential and tried to push it out of the bearing. According to the shop manual, there is no clip or retention device holding it in so I assume it is seized. I hammered on the end of the shaft but could not drive it through the bearing.

My question: Is there something I am missing holding the spliined shaft in the bearing before I rent a press to force it out?

Next will be the drive shaft.
Thanks

Might want to remove the spindle assembly with the axle still in and then get it looked at.

Might be the route I go. Do you know if there is any sort of retaining clip or do you take off the nut and push it through?
