That sounds like a very low number, can any other GS400/430 owners confirm that this a low mpg.

What I'm driving now has 3.5L 270hp Toyota V6, and I'm just about the same mpg as my old 01 GS300, so I think that a GS400/430 would not be that far off from where I'm now in regards to mpg. I'm ranging now around 17-18 city, 25-27 hwy
yeah... Actually. During the WINTER months (here in PA) I only average around 13.5-14mpg overall in my 430. (but that's due to MOSTLY city driving...at least 90%) and warming the car up, etc.

I'm also a MAJOR lead-foot with my car! If it's babied it can easily get 28+ mpg on the highway, and around 17-18mpg in the city.

I don't even think it's worth considering a 300 over a 400/430, imo. (unless adding a Turbo)
GOTTA HAVE THAT TORQUE man!

Then again- it's all relevant to the price you find- if you found a MINT GS3 for a DEAL, I wouldn't recommend you to NOT buy it. (lol- I just wouldn't, PERSONALLY. )

So from what I'm reading the correct mpg on the GS400/430 is actually livable. I only wish that I knew someone with a 400/430 so I can personally drive the car to compare it to my GS300 and what I have now.

As my search continues, I'm noticing one interesting thing with most all the GS430s that I find. As I look at and drive these GS430 they all have double, triple, and quadruple milage compared to same year GS300s. I would have thought that the GS430 would have had less compared to same year GS300s.

For example a local (South Florida) GS430s
2001 GS430 142K
2003 GS430 148K
2004 GS430 78K

For example a local (South Florida) GS300s
2001 GS300 89K
2003 GS300 54K
2004 GS300 76K

Can anyone where on CL shed some light as to why the GS430s would have much higher milage compared to GS300s. In my mind I would have though that I would have been the other way around, since the GS430 having the larger engine, hence more gas usage, and in turn would be used less compared to the smaller engined GS300.

back when I had a GS400 (left) and GS300 (right)

I drove the 400 more because of the sound, and the get up and go feeling. I had simple mods on it. SRT intake, HKS Exhaust and headers. The GS300 was built more for show so I started spending less time behind the wheel of it.

GS4

GS3 Now (been through a lot of changes since)

I'd say go with a more fuel economical 4cyl if you are looking to save gas. Both were pretty bad compared to my Camry I was driving lol but I am pretty heavy on the gas. Especially when it sounds oh so good!
