Lexus gs400 Should I buy a used Upper control Arms from An Auto Recycling?
Hello all CL members
My gs400 upper control arms are bad I need to replace them but the new oem from Lexus is too high for me..
I found a auto recycling calls alltoyotalexuspartscom out of Rancho Cordova, Ca 95742
They have those front upper control arms for $100 a piece with 90 day warranty.
Does any members have any experience with used upper control arms or any experience with that auto recycle? Should I order those use upper control arms? Also I'm considering getting the Moog upper control arms. New uca from Moogs around $370 or used oem from alltoyotalexusparts.com for $200??
Any advice or recommendation is greatly appreciated!

My advice is, if you cant afford to replace parts in your car because your either
A. Student
B. Cheap
C. want to save for Curtains
D. Want to save for HIDS and 32's
E. Live at home with Momma
Sell the car get something where part replacement is affordable to you. I mean REALLY? new upper control arms with Sewell Rebate code not Affordable?
If im replacing im going New OEM.

I don't know why people talk down on others; people go through different times in life. At one point when he bought the car his circumstances might have been different than they are right now. A lot can change in a short period of time. You shouldn't be embarrassed about what the mechanic is gonna think putting in a used part on a Lexus coz that's ur car and he is getting paid to do the job. You don't have to sell your car just because some replacement parts are a little more than you can afford at a particular time, while the rest of the car is still holding up well. Especially for a Toyota product, we all buy these cars partly because we hope they don't have numerous mechanical problems, but if those mechanical problems catch you at the wrong time then it can be stressful. What if his car is paid off? All I am saying is that none of us know this member's situation, but he came to us for some help, and to talk down on him or her like that is not nice. They say the empty drum makes most noise. If you have no constructive opinion on whether he should get the Moog for $370 or the used for $200, then please just leave no comment. Don't throw in a 3rd Smart Alec option in there when he only is just considering between 2. You can just say he would be better off with new OEM, but given the choices he is considering then the new aftermarket Moogs might be his best option. It's true some parts are not worth buying used but still you can easily say that is a reasonable, friendly, mature manner that shows we are all human, share the same passion for our Lexus GS cars, and we are here to share what we can.
I have put a used fuel pump in my car for just $40 and my car runs just fine.

I don't know a lot about the upper control arms, but unless you think your current ones are about to snap off or something, I would probably wait and buy new. Reason being you don't really know what shape the bushings are in on the ones you're buying. Especially if you're going to pay someone else to install.

It is just like buying a used car, make sure the parts are in good shape, they will help you thru tuff times, and if things get better and they start failing you. You can always buy new.

Agree, not sure why the OP is getting personally attacked. Also, get real with what your car is worth. My 2nd gen cost me $5k. And you want me to buy oem upper arms at $440 a piece (discounted price at my dealer). That's just not cost effective.
I picked up aftermarkets from rock auto for $140 each. I passed on the dorman and other el cheapo which were 100 and 80 respectively. Either of the options would be better than picking up a questionable used part.
Good luck!

I purchased the Mevtech. It's my first experience with them so I figured I'd give them a go. In all honesty, I wasn't too impressed with the feel of the ball joint. Felt overly tight and a little notchy. However the rubber bushings seemed ok and it fit fine. Feel on vehicle was good as well and it corrected all of my wheel shake issues.
Glad I could help.

Such input will help me a lot. Mevotech is indeed a wiser choice then Dorman.
