whats funny is when people are so skilled at this they literally do it with their eyes closed

looks like a crazy person opening and slamming doors.

I'm just going to pay the dealer the $80 bucks to cut and program it. For anyone who hasn't had their key cut yet, it might just be easier to have the dealer do everything at once, at least for me.

I have tried to program a wireless key entry for 2004 GS 300 at Locksmiths shop as well as manually by following up all the procedures which are posted on the net, however, the vehicle still can't be opened nor closed by the wireless remote, what could be the problem?
Please help.

In step 1) for remote programming, it seems important to manually unlock only the drivers door and open. Using the electric locks to unlock may prevent getting into programming mode. Also, the key must be moved to ON position (2nd detent) in the step shown.

I bought a used remote (about $40 ebay) and a new blank key with chip ($8 amazon), cut the blank at locksmith ($20) then followed the programming steps. I registered the chip first then programmed the remote to get a 2nd master key. Thanks for the "how to".

I was about to give up on programming the remote for my new key after I couldn't get into program mode (door locks never cycled), but I found somewhere else (not on CL) the procedure called for manually cycling the driver's door lock instead of using the switch. I believe the problem is that if your door lock actuators are worn out (as all of mine are...), the electric lock switch won't work in this procedure. Must have something to do with the alarm not arming unless all the doors are locked.

Anyhow, manually locked all the doors first, then proceeded by manually locking and unlocking the driver's door during the applicable steps and SUCCESS. the door locks cycled and I programmed the key first try.

Maybe someone more experienced can tell us if you have to complete the transponder programming first before you do the remote programming. That may be some people's problem too. This is way too easy to pay any dealer $10 to do.

So, I've been searching to try and find my situation... Can't seem to find someone in my same boat... so here we go... I called lexus of north miami and they want 131 to program <cough cough> robbery!! So.... I have a 1999 lexus gs300, bought alittle over a year ago and was given one key, it opens everything (trunk, locks ect.) the remote how ever has never worked... I tried the whole resoldering and still no success, infact i further broke an already broken remote... so i was planning on getting a key from sewell, and doing the programming myself. Can this be done with just having a key that opens everything? or does the remote on my first key need to work to program second? Sorry and thanks! lol

Actually, just found where i CAN do it, never mind ...

I have a related question. Does anyone know how to determine the number of keys that are already programmed into the ECU (without resetting to 1)?
