you have to be both patient and easy with it, first time shouldn't be that tricky just be gentle and you'll get it in there.

Actually, I ordered the cup holder from Sewell with the rubber piece for my 98 and it has one wide slit and one narrow slit on the side. My 98 requires a narrow slit on each side so it does not fit. Furthermore the corner rubs on the cup holder door not allowing the door to fully open when I push on the door to open it (door cover whatever you want to call it) I have not done it, but I am going to use the original cup holder (the one without the rubber piece) and the new cup holder to combine the two by cutting and gluing, so that I have a perfect fit to my 98 and have the rubber to hold my cup better. Anybody else have this issue?

can you post side by side pics of the two dividers, so people can see what you're talking about

Sam, I too have a '98 with a newer cup holder divider and it works just fine. Sounds like you need to flip yours around.

No, on mine both sides need to be narrow slit. I think they may have changed this mid year in 98 not sure. My car was produced in the first 6 months. I'll post pictures when I get back home to show you what I mean. I even emailed Sewell and they said there cup holder is not compatible with my car and that I would have to buy the entire cup holder to make the divider with the rubber work.

In that case if you look at the potrusions that go into your cup divider you will see that they are thin on both sides. If not your cup holder has been changed. does your divider come out easily? Does your cup holder door open all the way by just touching the cover? Do you still have the original divider? The one without the rubber? Look at it and you will see that the slits are narrow on both sides
