I have read that if certain exhausts can enhance the k&n so maybe with a different exhaust you can gain both bottom and top end but I would still prefer the better filtering.

you gotta learn to read a dyno chart man and actually interpret all the data correctly throughout the entire band. Im not gonna waste anymore time educating you.

Yeah I may be reading it wrong. Can you explain it to me?

Either way, even if I am wrong about loss of low end power they still are terrible filters and for that reason alone I would not use one

"I had the K&N installed on my gs4 for about a year. When I first put it on it was kinda nice; a bit growly, a bit raspy. After a year it got a bit annoying. It just seemed more raspy than anything else. My exhaust is all stock so the open intake doesn't help a whole lot. Its fine when you are wide open throttle, otherwise you actually loose some driveability. I prefer the driveability and quietness from the stock closed intake setup. If I find a set of headers and a nice exhaust I Hey guys. I just installed my K&N intake today. My car almost feels slower with less torque than before. I reconnected the battery and it was a little better. Is this normal for the K&N FPIK intake system? Shouldnt i feel more power gain? Thanks for the help
might try the K&N again but for now the stock setup is better for daily commuting. "

"It's all in your head! Well, at least the low-end power. EVERY intake WILL make ANY car slower on the low-end. There have been many, many tests to prove this and not just on these CL forums. However they DO improve mid and high-end ranges...with more of an increase on the high-end. The A/F controller will help but a nice high stall torque converter helps all."

He had one on order, but after I put it on my ride and tested it on the dyno......as controlled as you can get. Tested stock. Then with the car still straped to the dyno we installed the intake and the hp and tq numbers went down! We couldn't believe it!!!!! The the company didn't want to give me a refund! If they don't we are going to have major prolems! Until I find out if they will refund me or not I will not name the company. He does have a K&N drop in.

I cant speak for the K&N but I can say the SRT w/ECU makes real world power. I walk a stock GS every time!

No filter can filter 100% of dirt.

Going out on a limb here, but would any of this would matter if the car was to get custom tuned?

Must be better than a cookie cutter tune like srt?

wow...lots of debate here. I own one with borla exhaust. well it is a little sluggish off the line, but.....if you can use the e shift my car will lay a scratch in second gear while rolling with the rpms up at about 3000 when i punch it. i like, i am going to keep it, and as far as drive-ability goes it is something you have to get used to, sometimes when all the planets line up and there is a solar eclipse, it feels sluggish off the line.

worth the money...yes....that big of a deal(loss in low in response)...no...

so what your saying is that it does affect the bottom end? (below 3000 rpm)

Yah I believe if you use an Apexi SAFC or a NEO to adjust the A/F ratio and re-dyno it you will see that graph all around increase
