Hey guys. I've been having this problem for a while. My hood latch release cable sticks when I open my hood, and it won't retract back in. As a result, I can't close my hood. It will close to the first lock position, but I can;t get it to completely lock on the second lock position.

Can anyone tell me where/how to get the hood latch cable to release back? I've tried shoving it back in from under the dash, the cable is all crimped and I can't get it in. Is there something I can do around the latch itself under the hood that will allow me to get the hood closed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

stick your fingers where the cable comes back out from the sheath at the latch under the hood. you should be able to pull some slack out.

Thanks for the response. I was actually able to pull on the cable right behind the driver's side headlight. I few tugs and it reset the latch. What a pita.

grease it up, it happens sometimes. Fixed a car the other day where the hood wouldn't release since the latch was sort of seized. Cleaned it up with brake cleaner, then greased it good.
