What I'm thinking is to pass the cable through and connect it to my fake tape with a hinge. So I pop the tape in with the iPod and it hinges out so that the iPod is exposed and easy to get to, I would angle it and maybe a small twist towards me.

Not a bad plan. Be sure to post pictures if/when you do this.

I did I search and it's already on the market except I will use the aux cable instead of the tape head and run the power cord through the inside of tape so there are no exposed cables

I found this.

Amazon Amazon

This way I put it in the center console and presto instant connection to my iPod with no cables. When I get it I will report. Got mine on eBay for less than 8 bucks. So 8+5 = 13 bucks for blue tooth on our old Lexus. Not bad

I got my blue tooth and intalled it. Ran into a problem, alternator noise through the speakers. To solve this problem I ran the cig lighter ground, and the aux cable ground to a bolt that holds the amplifier (this way everything has the same ground). Problem solved. Then I tried different cig lighter to USB adapters. All of them made a buzzing sound except the Belkin mini adapter. Now I am good to go. And my iPod connects with no wires. Here is a link to the Bluetooth device. If you want to wait longer you can get it on eBay for a little more than 7.00 dollars.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but are you only using one half of the speaker wire (positive or negative)? Cutting 5 one foot strips of speaker wire would technically be 10 pieces if split. Am I missing something? Thanks for posting this write-up. I've bought the audio jack and would love to get this installed by the end of the weekend.

Yes 1 half. You shouldn't have 10.

Just toss it or re-use it. As long as you solder/connect the wires to the correct pins on your jack & make sure you ground it.

I used one of the bolts that's holding up the whole CD changer. You can hear the engine in the through the speakers a little as you drive but only if you don't have anything playing. With the musics bumping, you don't even hear it(noise).

Use the bolt that holds the amplifier because that is what your really tapping into. If will get rid of the alternator whine if you do
