2001 GS300 or IS300
Hey everyone! Im new to the forum but not new to cars or lexus'. I currently own a 98 SC300 and Im looking to add to the stable with a 4 door Lex. I've found a 2001 IS and a 2001 GS300, both are priced really well and really clean. My question to you GS300 owners is this.. Is there anything I should look out for on the GS300 that I may not know about by just searching thru old threads? If you've owned either or have experience with either feel free to chime in.
Just an FYI - Im looking to do a few small mods to the car (coilovers, exhaust, wheels, body kit, etc).
Thanks in advance!

Both reliable, same engines, roughly same gas mileage .....so ...in this case it would be a matter of taste and what you're looking for.....
I've had both and honestly I liked GS more because I like bigger cars. Is was too small for me....

I've driven both, I currently own a GS300 but was looking for an IS300..
My opinion...
IS300 is definitely sportier right out of the box, feels more nimble, and is a bit more fun to drive. Roughly same gas mileage and same maintenance schedules..
On the other hand the GS300 is very comfortable (can easily put 4 adults and go on a road trip without getting cramped) and with coilovers it feels a bit better handling wise.
There are some possible trouble areas on the GS like the lower ball joints, possibly the A/C evap box, the brake master cylinder, and thats about it for car specific problems, everything else would just be how well the maintenance was done and if it was kept up well
Really ends up just being about personal preference
