Question Key goes in ignition, wont turn

Sometimes, not the majority of time, the key goes in, "activates" steering wheel and key wont turn at all . you have to "force" it after removing.inserting a few times ytou give and force it t turn.

Is this common? What can be done?

maybe when you park the car you have the steering wheel turned all the way left or right and sometimes that does lock the steering wheel.

I get the samething and after cracking the casing on one of my keys trying the "Force" method, I learned to wiggle the wheel until the key turns. I find that you have to wiggle that wheel pretty hard (no homo) to release the ignition lock. I searched these forums and found that it's just a little quirk about our cars.

try turning the steering wheel and turn the key or make sure your car is on park, step on brakes? Might help.

Your steering wheel is locked, your key is getting worn out, or the key cylinder is getting worn. Not much else it can be.

I'll try to wiggle the steering wheel next time.
Its when its parked all straight in garage or parking lot space.
I've tryed stepping on brake and going to get the other key when it was stubborn lke that. my fear is ignition/ key cylinder is getting old which could mean having to get new installed and key?? how does that work with the keys to replace ignition?

This thread just saved my azz!
GX470:Windows down, inch of rain predicted for tomorrow, ignition key will not turn, can't roll up the windows. I thought I was giggling the steering wheel enough to eliminate that as the cause. I read this thread and REALLY giggled the wheel and now all is well. Whew!
