Default Clunking noise from steering...Quick solution found

My local lexus dealer was looking over 2002 GS that i bought sight unseen from another lexus dealer over 2000kms away.
It's the one in the middle, behind my ES and infront of my dads GS.

Took me 12mths to find it, I lost my beloved 98 in unfortunate circumstances

Anyway, as I had bought the my second GS sight unseen I had an arrangement with the selling dealer that anything that needed doing could be fixed by my local Lexus dealer.
4 new tyres, a fog light and other bits n pieces were approved after my first inspection.
Car has full books, brand new navi unit just installed, latest maps, t-belt, trans service, all the good maintenance has been done.

Fast fwd to a couple of weeks ago, I start getting a misfire, it's off to the local dealer for diagnosis and repair, covered under my short (3mth) warranty. 2 oxygen sensors are on order to fix the misfire and clear the code.

Not long after i start getting a low speed graunching noise, bit of clunking when i turn the steering? steering rack bushes??...So i take a look and guess what I found..?!!

look closely at that picture, thats a 12mm socket lodged in my steering rack, left behind from last inspection. Its engraved with initials, has the tool brand on it and I've sent the photo off to the Dealer and am waiting to hear back. I think my steering is fine now, but I'll keep a close eye on it.
How sloppy do you have to be to leave that in there?

If you were the dealer, how would you respond?

Well unfortunately those things happen. We've all drop a socket or two in the engine bay. Looks like it would be hard to see even if the car was on the lift. Anyway congrats on the newer GS... Let the modding begin..
