Its's going on 9 months of owning my '99 GS300, well I noticed a slight miss at highway speeds yesterday. Feeling like it may be the spark plugs fouling out since I haven't changed them yet. That comes this weekend...

So doing a little research as to what may cause that slight miss , I found nothing but I did find out that resetting the ECU may help, if not cure other things like low idle, poor throttle response/lag. So I pulled the ECU fuse and let the car sit for 30 min. Put the fuse back in and noticed a big difference. Right away my idle was at 900 instead of 650-700. Throttle response was instant instead of a slight delay ,while rolling then punching it the throttle was spot on now, before it lag like the ECU was trying to figure out which gear it should select to go into.


Unfortunately the slight miss still persist, but less frequently. Before it was like every 45 sec, now its every 5 min .
Oh well ... did the timing belt change and transmission flush, I guess its time to change the plugs and air filter , my baby has 145k miles on her and I am not sure if the previous owner ever changed those items. From the looks of my air filter , i have strong feeling they didn't.

just do the rest of your maintenance to see if anything changes... (sparks and filter). dont forget to try cleaning out your MAF with a MAF sensor cleaner.. lots of people say it helps since over time it gets dirty.

btw which fuse is the ECU fuse?

Thanks for the tips fellas... after all this time , I thought the GS was just laggy from using a first generation drive by wire system. I was seriously wrong, this car is very responsive after a ECU reset. Almost feels like I am driving another car. I will definitely reset the ECU again after the air filter and spark plug change.

You say you got a misfire, then I would check the ignition system.
