I haven't yet replaced the sensors for a couple of reasons;
1. after I looked at their location, I didn't see a plug to just unsnap and plug in the new sensor.
2. this CEL is no longer problematic.

To those who have replaced their O2 sensor:
It looks like the sensors plug is accessed from above?
Is access to the plug on the sensor available from below by removing the small grommet?
or is this done under the carpet of the passenger side?

The plug is inside, you have to fold back the carpet

3 of the plugs you can get from the engine bay. The 4th sensor, bank 2 sensor 2 you have to roll back the front pass. side carpet to access it as mentioned above. Be sure to spray some PB Blaster on the sensors to help with loosen them up.

alright,
thanks guys.

Of course the bank 2 sensor 2 is the problematic sensor so I'll have to locate where it comes up through the pass. floorboard, hopefully it'll be somewhat painless and I won't have to remove the seat.

'02 GS300
Got the P0430 code couple years ago. Replaced the O2's and cats, less than a year later, P0430 again. Had new cats put on, again (with help from service center). Now, getting the CEL and again the P430 code.

CEL comes and goes, I never know when. I just happen to look down and sometimes it's on, sometimes it's off.

Lexus (St)ealer says that after market cats won't last and I must have Lexus put in new ones. Yeah, right . . . . .

Oh, by the way . . . it is always Bank #2 . . . as I see most of you guys have as well. Hummm.....sounds like a racket to me . . . . .

Best way around this?????

Up date to post #14. I actually had an exhaust leak, the 2 donuts gasket between the cat/exhaust manifold and the center section of the muffler. Code cleared itself after a couple of restarts and about 40 miles of driving. My silk smooth idle is back along with better gas mileage.
So for any one with code P0430 first check for exhaust leaks then change oxygen sensors if no leaks.

Well 2 years later and I've accumulated just 10,000 miles.
Did the Timing belt service last week along with a handful of "extras".

P0430 popped up again and I have to say I am shocked how many folks accept what's handed to them.
What I am talking about is the BS that "it's the cats that need to be replaced" stab.
No they don't, if they do there is an underlying problem as they (the cats) don't "wear out".
O2 sensors may fix the P0420/P0430 CEL but what it is most likely would be just an exhaust leak.
So before the "throwing parts at it will fix it" mentality rears it's ugly head,
first look for that leak, or I keel U.

I've had this code for both sides on my 00 gs4 for a while now, fixing the gaskets is actually what caused them, not fixed them, my idle is fine and my mileage is 24-25 consistently, I just put a piece of tape over the light so it would quit bothering me, no I'll effects otherwise so I'd rather out the money in other things for my car for right now. May fix before I sell but really don't see the point.

mine was throwing it and it went away. my cats are fine so i believe it is an exhaust leak or maybe o2 sensor.
