Default Ignition switch replacement

I swapped my ignition key cylinder and ECU into another GS, but when I put the key in it won't turn at all, using the key that was programmed to the ECU so I'm not sure what I'm missing, appreciate any help

Okay, about your problem. If the key and ECU were paired before replacement and worked correctly, then the problem is with the ignition key cylinder and the ignition switch on it. Additionally, the vehicle it is currently installed in may have had electrical problems - blown fuses, disconnected wiring harnesses, dead starter / relay etc. - before ECU was replaced.

Well before swapping everything over from the current car, it ran with a blown head gasket, no key problems or electrical. One reason I swapped GS's was the electrical nightmare my og had. I didn't change the ignition switch, just ECU and key tumbler, does the switch need changed as well. Also was wondering maybe since it has to be taken out in acc then maybe I have to leave it on accident until everything is connected back?

The part the key sits in and turns, it's not part of the whole ignition cylinder, just the front

After replacing this key tumbler, does your key turn to all positions such as ACC, IGNITION, START?

It doesn't turn at all, the steering column will move like normal and I hear the door ding, I don't think I seen any security light though. Also tried using the new ECU and key (apparently fits in the tumbler) and still no changes

The key won't turn at all or the engine won't crank?

The key won't turn at all, doesn't get stuck or anything. Just won't turn to anything, I'll see if it makes a clicking noise at all when I get home

Okay, now it's more clear. Your key and cylinder do not match. Or the key cylinder is damaged. You may need the services of a locksmith to make a new key to fit your cylinder or to repair the internal parts of the cylinder.

Worst case scenario, you'll need a new key and cylinder set from Lexus parts. Fortunately, in this generation of GS the immobilizer chip is in the key fob, so it can be replaced in a new key body and it will still work with the ECU without reprogramming.

That is, the replacement key cylinder is jammed in this part of the steering column, so that it cannot be turned to ACC. It might be worth asking the locksmith guys if they know any tricks on how to unlock it. Otherwise, get a new or used one and replace it.
