Default Reupholstering seats with 'leatherette' ?

Got a friend who wants to get a luxury vehicle (perhaps GS) but is opposed to the use of leather in vehicles... Anyone know if there are companies who could reupholster seats with a 'leatherette' type material (like Audi / BMW use) ? Costs involved?

Thanks.

The GS300 is available with cloth, leather is actually priced as optional, although it could take some work finding a GS with cloth on a dealer's lot. I believe the ES, IS, and RX all have cloth "standard".

I sincerely doubt one could find ANY Lexus in the U.S. without leather unless the owner special ordered it from the factory (which can certainly be done, but requires approx 3 month wait). However, it's a part of so many of the "packages" that you might not be able to obtain some options that you would want.

Go over to www.Lexus.com and see if you can build one to your friend's specs.

This past week when I went to the Lexus dealer to look around, they had a special order RX300 that had tan cloth. It also did not have a sun roof. The dealer said it took almost 6 months to get in but the people really wanted it.

At my local dealer I saw a last gen ES300 with cloth. Talk about being nothing more then a camry...

I also saw a GS300 there with cloth seats and no sunroof. I could not believe it, my wife and I were amazed and wondered who would buy a $40K luxury car without these basic features.

Finally, I also saw a GS300 on ebay with cloth seats. They are very rare indeed.

Tell your friend that he doesn't really want a luxury car then...and direct him towards the Honda Accord!

I'm all about saving the animals or whatever, but hassling over leather seats is going too far. I met someone who wouldn't ride in cars with leather seats. Fine with me, no ride for you.

It just screams "look at what I'm doing!" and doesn't really protest anything.
