Instead of doing a carpc, I was wondering if there is a tab alternative to replacing our radio. Anyone done such a thing? Which tab would be the best fit?

I think we can accomondate up to 8" screen.


Since I have a sound processor, all I need is to connect the headphone jack into my processor.

If this is possible, we can have android gps, internet connection, etc...


This is 2gs related because it involves installing in the oem radio location and size is a factor.

fyi i have the 8gig 5IT and its the bomb i love it ,but it a little temperamental it will freeze once in while no big deal it would reboot in 20 second ive even run it with the gps, music and transmitter(car charger optional) all at the same time with very little lag there even app for a car media interface (but no lexus logo sorry )

also i forgot you can run google map when connect threw wifi ( mifi ) or any broadband wireless access point also with the optional cradle you use a external hard drive and also bluetooth keyboard and mouse let see the ipad do that without a app(lol)

The screen is 5" though... I want a 7" tab. the new galaxy tab is freakn 8.9" screen (not sure the dimension)..I see that they have a 7" screen one too...but the full dimension may be too wide.

yea this where they get you there a 7 more like 8 with the case but no GPS if that something you really need then my 5 may or may not what your looking for now if you are making a custom housing then i see how bad it going to look i know when i watch movies in the car they look crispy give me til tomorrow ill take a pictures of my set up to give you a idea more or less on how it look, in my set up i dont have it like you wanted but it on a cradle in my dash

ok...there a bunch of tabs that'll fit. Most of the 8" screen (that is not 6 x 9) will fit in the section with a little fab. It will cover the ashtray section.

now, almost all 7" screen will fit with little modification. I superimposed the galaxy tab 7" onto my dnx and it's just perfect. I just need to cut an ext 0.5" off the double din kit and it'll fit nice and snug.

I will wait until galaxy tab 8.9 come in before I purchase the 7" screen. The wifi has the gps built in too.

NICE! I'm sure it'll do much better than my dnx in every way.

Cool, thanks. Also, the view sonic 7 will fit perfectly where my double din dnx sits. I just need something to hold it in place, no cutting necessary.

Brian, the supercharger is a long ways away. I will need a new motor to do that lol

if that the case you can look into the galaxy tab units i think by far much better unit my girl has the galaxy s (vibrant) now on android base phone there gps service give you the turn by turn by turn by turn to the point that it tell you have arrive at your location it on the right or left with picture of the place .can of scary if you ask me
and no ipad please im tried of hearing how people(cows) think there the BO of all tablet if it wasnt for there marketing and there app store my device and similar would run circle around dollar for dollar...opps sorry i got carry away back on topic
now for fab you can mod a mount like this http://www.jr.com/siig-inc/pe/SI_CEMT0E12S1/ to a mdf then fiber glass the area to make it look oem just a idea
