How would u all feel about buying a 185k miles gs300 2nd gen.
the car appears in amazing shape and has all of the service records since day 1! all of the services done at a lexus dealer.
are there any issues that are common with these cars when the miles get super high?

If the price is right and all of the problems the 2GS is notorious for have been fixed, along with regular maintenance, then why not?

There's plenty of people on here with more miles than that.

mine has 411000 km or 250000 miles and shes running strong i paid 3000 canadian for it and the body and interior is mint to me thats all that matters engines can always be replaced

If its a good price get it! Lexus lasts forever especially since u said all the services are done and documented, looks lieks its gonna last forever!

it depends what u are lookin for. maintenance can cost alot to keep these cars running right once they get older. everyone says they run forever but things still have to get replaced if you want to operate correctly. i got my gs3 from my aunt (only owner) a few years ago basically for free with 150k miles on it. i can do a fair amount of maintenance myself, but i'll give a break down of maintenance done in the last year. a mileage span of about 185-193k miles. i drive gentle and so did my aunt and she had all prior maintenance done at longo lexus before i got it.

timing belt/water pump replaced (800)
vvti gear replaced during above work (400)
leaking valve cover gaskets replaced (200)
new battery (100) no labor
new motor mounts (400)
new radiator (100) no labor
ball joints/tie rods (250) no labor
new caster arms (260) not installed yet
new sway bar bushing (40)

I'm sure I've forgotten some other things and know the struts need to be replaced. After that I'll stop and just let the car die slowly. Damn, writing this just made me realize I spend entirely too much money on this car.

I'd say jump on it, I had a similar situation except I had a much lower mileage vehicle than that for purchase.

Sure they may have gotten all of the maint done at a lexus dealer but think about all of the OTHER things that are going to fail soon.

185k isnt THAT MUCH for these cars but do realize that the car has been through a lot already. A lot of repairs coming your way

That's what I'm saying. I'm not complaining about the maintenance I had to do, and the car is pretty reliable, but people tend to exagerate things as if you buy one of these and it runs forever without having to do any work to it. OEM parts are not cheap and parts wear out.

Actually paid like 4k for the car, but that was the end of 2007 when the car was probably worth 8-10k.

agreed with tiger, people really over exaggerate how awesome lexus is. Yes they can get to 200k with relative ease compared to other car brands but once any car reaches the 200,000 mile area, stuff just starts to fail and give out. Especially things that have worked just fine up to 200k and have never been replaced.

In my opinion, go for a more lower mileage car and pay a bit more
