Default A/C experts please help!

Its just starting to get muggy around here and my A/C is not working. It blows sorta cool air when you first put the A/C on then the air turns warm. The A/C clutch is engaged and stays engaged. Both fans are running. I bought some A/C gauges and a friend hooked them up for me last night. I had bubbles in the sight glass so we added almost one can of R-134a. The bubbling stopped. The pressures are 60-65 on the low side and 125-130 on the high side at idle, A/C set on 65 degrees inside. No change in the cooling, still warm.

Times are tough, any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

Most likely a blown AC compressor. Same thing happened to me, unfortunately it's pretty expensive to fix.

Thanks for the reply. Anyone else?

Does anyone know anything about the refrigerant control valve on our compressors? I think I see one on the back of mine. I have been searching like crazy on the net. It is the only other thing I could find. If it fails, it makes it look like the compressor is bad.

We could ALL save a lot of money if this were true...

Is it this ?

http://www.polarbearinc.com/Webstore...5&ParentCat=25

I am having the same problem and i did open up my compressor only to find that the pistons and reeds in it are good and the valve is faulty so it keeps the stroke of the pistons to a minimum so it does not cool.

Thanks so much for the feedback and the link!!!

Yes that "looks" like what I am talking about. The valve I am refering to is on the back of the compressor held in by a snap ring I believe. I haven't taken mine apart yet. I am having issues with other cars too. Did you swap yours out or did you get a new compressor?

Thanks for the info!!!!!!!!!!

Just to follow up - I have the valve on order from Polar Bear inc.

This has been a very long process!

Update:
I received the valve from Polar Bear last monday. I installed the valve on Saturday and recharged the system. Everything is working great! A/C has been working solidly since Saturday.

The part number you need for a 1999 GS300 is EX 1232. It costs about $50 shipped. You can acutally change this part with the compressor still on the car! This part saved me from buying a new compressor and condensor $650++. I will try and post the whole procedure in the future.

I hope this helps someone else,

Yep, A/C is still working working great! It's being put to the ultimate test in August. No other issues. If you can do all the work yourself, you have very little to lose. You are probably looking at about $120 in parts total.

You did put A/C gauges on the car and checked everything right?
