Unhappy Need help finding a good mechanic for my 1998 GS 300

I live in Vermont and work in Southern California and have a 1998 Lexus GS 300 that I keep in California for my quarterly one month trips here. The other day my Check Engine, Trac Off and VSC lights came on. I took it to a Lexus dealer who told me I need to replace the VVT Cam Gear and Cam Seal. They want $1095 to fix it, which seems like a lot. I am looking for other alternatives that would be less expensive but do good quality work in the Orange County, CA area. Would appreciate any help you could give me!

Try a local Toyota dealership. They are usually cheaper than a Lexus dealership.
