Default Inner Tail lights Fade

Hey all,

I have a 99 gs300 and ever since I got the car I have noticed that my inner tail lights are either fading or are different colors. It hasn't really bothered me until recently. I also have them tinted with vinyl 20%, but they were even faded before i put the tints on.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what are some solutions? Perhaps changing the tail light bulb.. Please help.

Paul

I'm pretty sure they just fade over time. Mine are the same way. The right one is faded more so than the left, it is a pinkish color now instead of the true red it is supposed to be.

just buy a new set. it's common for 98-00. starting in 01+, they stay red and don't fade.

have been trying to find a red bulb at the local stores with no luck. Has anyone found a bulb that would fit in there?

I dont think the bulb has anything to do with it. Just replace them or get LED ones.

Dont use the daytime running lights, keep away form the auto light feature..also less exposure to the rear from the sun will help.. Meaning dont let your car sit if the sun is hitting the rear of the car. Turn it around ..

The DRL's have nothing to do with his inner tails fading. I rather just get a full set of LED tails or 01+ inner tails as oppose to turning my car around everyday so the sun does not strike the rear.

So I did some experimenting today and it actually worked out pretty well. I went to a local auto store and bought red tailight repair tape for $3. Since my inner tails are tinted, i obviously couldnt tape the outside cover. So what I did was tape the light bulb. I turned on the lights and the inners matched better then i expected. I don't think the tape will burn around the bulb, bc its made for the cover which becomes hot itself. This saved me about $150.

With a car that caught on fire because the tape made the bulb overheat and catch fire then the plastic went up in flames etc?

TAKE THE TAPE OFF THE BULB MAN ASAP, not worth finding out if it will melt or not. yes the covers get warm but its residual heat from the lightbulb which gets WAY hotter than the cover will.

go here and buy the RED bulb u need BTW they always have a discount code floating around so look for one of them

^^ What he said...take that tape off man, no matter what you do that stuff is gonna melt. You could always use red clear paint, or a red sharpie if you really wanted to make the bulbs red. Mines were pink since the day i bought my car, just save up and get some nice LED tails!

Maybe he already died? I hope not! If you can read this, remove that tape! Have you ever tried touching a bulb? Yeah, burns, doesn't it? It will do the same thing to the tape.!
