really not that hard to do. find trans pan, drain it. refill with proper amount.

The owners manual says the tranny drain and fill will drains 2.5 quarts.

easier than an oil and filter change. drain bolt is 14mm. look under the car from the driver door. it's right there

My recomendation would be to drain and measure the drained product and then pour in that exact amount of new fluid. Look to your owners manual to figure out how to test dipstick for proper level (usually you do it with car idling, after warmed up, shift thru all the P,N,D,L setting then back to park or neutral depending on vehicle and then test level).

Lotsa people will tell you when changing T fluid or engine oil to do it after your car has warmed up but remember when you are wrenching on alum its easier to strip something when the surface is hot. I drain and fill tranny every time I change oil, which is every 3 months regardless of mileage. Its so cheap, you can buy a 12er (case) of T fluid here for like $5.XX per bottle.

Remember to not use too much force on the socket or wrench. Remember to hand thread the bolt into the hole after draining so that you dont run the risk of cross threading by starting the bolt into the threads with the socket.

On the 1st Gen you'd be looking for a square pan similar to the pan on the bottom of this tranny. On 2nd gen it should look very similar

I actually just did my tranny flush except I also took off the pan and replaced the filter inside which I strongly recommend changing if it was never changed. Cause mine was clogged and then filled it back up with 4.5 quarts of oem atf. i also used the special silicone from Lexus to seal all back up

I've heard this from a few people. The GS tranny is supposed to have more of less a "lifetime" filter. (it's not really a filter right? It's like a metal screen thing?) But many people that have posted to this forum have said they replaced theirs and it was very dirty with metal debris.

Do you have any pics of the filter?

Did your tranny pan have circular magnets on bottom that you also cleaned off?

Remove the trans drain plug (14mm wrench or socket is needed). Let it drain till it's just dripping. Then fill it back up with 2 to 2.5 quarts. Start with 2 and add as needed. Make sure to fill it with the cat running and the trans in neutral. Then once your done filling it shift from park to reverse to drive a few times. Then your done. I actually just did one today.
