I guess the reason I called it the upper ball-joint is because the ball-joints are integrated with the control arms.

Good luck with the project. I hope it'll fixed your problem. I changed mine out and no more popping.

That is true but the only thing actually called a "ball joint" is the lower ball joints. Other than that, anything having a ball joint attached to it is named for its primary function instead. Thus the location of an upper ball joint is on the control arms, which have a very important function. This name (upper control arms) takes precedent. I just wanted to make sure anyone reading this doesn't second guess the term and buy the wrong part to replace.
