Default Anyone have a 3.5mm / headphone jack for Mp3?

I have the OEM stereo with 6 disc changer and tape deck and would like to get a 3.5mm jack in somehow so I can just hook up my mp3 player for music. Anyone know if I could hard wire one into the OEM stereo? I tried an fm modulator and it was terrible reception, I also tried 2 of those tape to 3.5mm jack and both sound terribly garbled and any bass just sound like crap. Tape player is probably the culprit here, its never been used..
Thoughts?

This install took you only 10 minutes?? It looks like a 3 hour job to me.

I've been hesitant on doing this mod as I don't want to mess up the wiring.

What do you actually have to do for the "no CD changer method"? Do you still need the relays and stuff?

This guy quoted me $65 shipped but you have to send him your deck.
I might bite, he will also change the lcd for an extra $100....Much cheaper than a aftermarket setup!

I have an 2003 Lexus GS 300 with NAV and 6 cd changer. If you are interested, I can help you. I hooked up mine 3.5 mini jack straight to my 6 Cd changer. When play from and ipod/mp3 player, simply put the head unit on CD mode. Just to be sure to insert a BLANK CD on which ever one of the 6 slot in the cd changer. This is to trick that the CD changer is playing but in reality, you are playing from the ipod/mp3 player. All u need to an 3.5 mini jack cable and some electrical tape, better with the soldering gun too...

I've purchased everything needed to make the AUX jack. I'll be keeping the CD-changer. I hope I'll be able to get it to work.

I tried the cassette and its all jacked up - garbled etc. Not sure if they have a head cleaner for tapes or if that would even fix it? I don't have a tape that I could even test to see if all audio in the tape deck sounds like that!

You shouldn't expect CD-quality sound with a tape adapter. I haven't listened to a tape in years, but quality should be less than FM radio.

No, its clearly (or UNclearly!) an audio "problem" not just a "sounds bad" it's "doesn't work bad", as in... not even tolerable!
