the amp wire goes direct to battery ? right? u can make a split off the wire and put in a relay that is controlled by the signal wire that goes to the amp.

relay is the best way to go about it for anything electrical thats extra. not good to ever split off a known ignition wire that powers something else..

no, the amp is turned on by the headunit. the remote power port on the amplifier gets turned on when the headunit turns on.
i was running it off that wire.
im using it for my air compressors. they get power when the relay turns on from the ignition-on

ok i understand what u saying,,,, for an air compressor i would run a whole new line direct from the battery .... ignition on for signal only u can split off of anywhere ...hmmmmm?? ohhh there is the fuel pump control unit somewhere around there the driver side quarter panel ....up in there somewhere ,,,,,that gets ignition on power

The correct way is to grab power all the way from the battery and install a relay near the trunk area.

I would run a wire from the front passenger side of the vehicle to the rear. Tap into the seat heaters or the cigarette lighter and ad a fuse. Select a source that will not shut your whole car down if something goes wrong. Tapping into a vital component is probably not the best choice.

i agree....but should be ok as long as you only use the 12v as a trigger wire and always use a relay

Get a multimeter and find the empty port in the fuse box that is remote activated and use it... No need to 'tap' into anything.
