Default HELP! Hood stuck closed, latch won't work, dead battery

Guys,

I need to find out a way to open my hood. The latch is not working. I have tried pulling on the wire as much as I can and it is not opening. The battery is dead so I need to get this thing opened ASAP.

Thanks,

T

Have someone push & pull on the front of the hood near the latch gently as someone else in pulling the hood latch cable. Is there give in the cable when you pull on it? It can be a possibility that it snapped...

There is no give, it has tension, but just isn't unlatching the hood.

I have tried pulling on the cable from inside the car with plyers while someone else pushed up and down on the hood and nothing!

I am out of ideas.

My next 2 options:

- Call Lexus and see if a Tech will give me tips

- Jack the car up, start taking the undertray/front bumper off and get to the latch that way.

Thanks!

ps: I found 2 guys who had the same issue on here, Pm'ed them to see what they ended up doing but haven't heard back from them.

Ok, finally got this thing opened and the battery replaced.

Here's what I did:

- jacked the car up
- removed the undertray
- worked my hand up to the latch and just pulled on the cable, it opened right up

Conclusion, the wire must have snapped somewhere between the fender and the inside of the car.

Thanks to all who provided tips!

I have not yet, but I figured out a way to open it through the grill in case i need to open it in the next 2 weeks or so. Goin to order the latch and replace it myself or take it to the dealership when i have some free time.

Use something long (that's what she said) to reach the latch cable and just pull it towards the bottom.
