New sub woofer replacement for 02 GS430 Mark Lev system
Hi guys,
I've done some searches and most are a year old or older so has anyone found a good replacement (free air) sub to swap out the ML 10 when its blown. I been looking for the JL Audio IB10 that the stickies and other searches came up with but that model is discontinued and cant find even on internet. I went to a place today and they said that free air subs are no longer in production period and tried to charge me 1300 to drop a earthquake with small enclosuer (get real dude). Really ready to do this swap out so i can have some decent music. Does anyone have any "new/latest 2010" leads on a good replacment?

That sounds like they want to sell you something, and something pretty expensive.
Have you checked with Crutchfield? I find it hard to believe that free air subs are no longer being produced.

Im having the same problems too. I dont think our factory ML amp can power any of the aftermarket subs.
Does anyone know the exact specifications on the Navigation with Mark Levinson Premium sound system? I like to know the total watts for the system, how it is distributed and what our factory amps are able to push/power at rms. Thanks

OMFG! LMAO! Who buys from Crutchfield?!
for $1300, what were they giving you? Earthquake makes some bad *** stuff and you were probably getting charged just fine. My bud has 1 amp 1 woofer and its over $2k; I had $4k with just 2 amps and 2 woofers, so you may be getting what you pay for... Did you make it clear that you just wanted a factory upgrade and not mind blowing bass?

I believe marine subwoofers will work. They are infinite baffle. I was trying to do this with my non-ML sub and talked to a guy over at Alpine, who said it will work. But I didn't end up doing it.

Thanks to all that have replied - good stuff for
Yeah for 1300 it was just dropping in the sub and then building some small encloser around it in the trunk using the same ML amp. I don’t want to beat the windows out of my GS I just want my bass back from this rattling ***** I got now and not pay an arm and a leg. So 1300 is waaaay out the question.
Marine subs you say...hmmm going to look into that.
And this guy isn’t the first place to say that free air subs are no longer made. He is actually guy #3 but I thought they all were blowing smoke up my tail pipe.
